We're in debt shouldn't we lower taxes?

Within the past week, during my journey to my next classes at the University I get interrupted by fellow students to try to influence me to vote NO on Prop 23. I tell them I would have to look further into it before signing any petition. (They seemed really emotional about the proposition) It turns out that I think differently then the majority of my fellow students.

In the state of California, we have many ridiculous regulations such as the energy tax imposed on all businesses that put Co2 into the atmosphere. I feel that our recession and loss of jobs is way more important than some phony environment regulation.

I personally have yet to believe in global cooling (wait was it global warming before) OH now they call it climate change or whatever. To me it's a bunch of nonsense that is just drilled into us Californians, perhaps other places in the US or in the World about the environment. I have yet to find true evidence that signifies Co2 emissions as the leading and causing factor for global warming.

Anyways, my purpose for this blog is for you to think for yourself and di what feels right and not to let anyone else to think differently.

Whether you want to debate if this proposition should be passed or discuss the influence of authority on our everyday beliefs, all comments are welcome :)

UPDATE: sorry forgot to state what prop 23 stands for.
Prop 23 suspends implementation of air pollution control laws requiring major sources of emissions to report and reduce greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming, until unemployment drops to 5.5% or less for one full year.

  1. i don't know what proposition 23 is but dude, seriously, climate change is nonsense?

personally, i believe that climate change is inevitable as our technology progress.

  2. Oh, there are clear links between co2 emissions and the atmosphere...to me, however, the affect we have is lower than often stated. We aren't QUITE as bad for the planet in a year as say, one really nasty volcano eruption.

  7. Is that employment clause actually part of it, or a joke?

  8. Evenin' comrade, thought I'd throw my voice in, sice your all so nice as to listen to it. There's nothing mysterious about global warming, it's been going on and off forever, its the pulse of the planet. Does that mean that our spilling of pollutants into the atmosphere and oceans surface doesn't change the makeup of our world?

In my opinion, I would say no. Though I wouldn't say it's as drastic as some make it out to seem. But something we really should be aware of, and keep track of. I dont understand the craze, but I do get that pollution sticks around. I've got enough chemicals being pumped into my food already, ya know ;)

But to support your side, its just ridiculous all the big companies 'supporting' the environment with their green plans and new green factories. The things take more energy to run, and more pollution making that energy and upkeep... Not like they have a profit to make off of fear, right?

    Only terrorists think that way.

  11. i think climate change is happening but not from the c02. c02 is produced by alot of stuff not just cars. Also the trees use c02 so I cant see it harming the atmosphere.

I think it has to do more with the sun. and the flares of the sun spots on there. I think I read about this somewhere or watched but basically it linked sun flare activity to warming and cooling on our planet.

  14. Global warming I believe is real but not as much from CO2 as they'd like us to believe.

Most likely from methane and other sources, destruction of rainforest and other flora that naturally contain these gases.

  15. The thing with the CO2 is that it actually has the smallest effect on the atmosphere, but there's just so much of it being pumped up into the sky that it really is having a big effect.

I took chemistry at A-level and it was all explained there, including the doubt. But you can't deny that it is doing damage.
